University of California Los Angeles - Ronald Reagan Medical Center
Los Angeles, California
This project was one of the largest and most complicated relocations that Health Care Relocations planned, organized and accomplished. Planning took place over four years because of the size of the project and construction delays. We worked with the specific departments to develop a move sequence that took into account all the risks and the concerns of each department. From this pre-move analysis and sequencing HCR was able to organize and execute the physical relocation of the clinical contents of the building (including all surgical and inpatient space) with care and efficiency. Departments relocated included but were not limited to: Pharmacy, Nursing Administration, Radiology, Volunteers, Gift Shop, Patients affairs, Clinical Engineering, Respiratory Therapy, Laboratory, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Cashier Office, Medical Faculty, Psychiatric Offices and Units, Emergency Department, Rehabilitation, Noninvasive / EKG adult and peds, 23 Operating Rooms, Sterile Process Department, Speech Pathology, Dialysis, Admissions, and all Inpatient department equipment and office contents.
Part of our scope of work also included, inventory, verification, assembly, onsite placement and the installation of Owner Purchased Owner Installed items. This was completed in advance of move.
Moreover, Health Care Relocation assisted with the development of the patient move schedule. The Patient Move was the pinnacle and climax of the relocation process. 485 patients moved from 7AM to 12PM (noon). There were three patient moves happening at the same time; each independent of each other. All three patient moves were an immense success and there was not even a pause in clinical operations. The day of the patient move the UCLA staff performed a liver transplant, kidney transplant, appendectomy and delivered six babies.

Peterborough Regional Health Centre
Peterborough, Ontario
We were extensively involved with this relocation project. Our direct involvement spanned over two years and started in advance of issuing the drawings for construction tender. Our team completed an in-depth analysis of the transferable equipment to verify the size and electrical and mechanical requirements of each piece being relocated. This information was verified on the draft construction drawings for accuracy and all inconsistencies were corrected per-tender.
Other work included developing a database and an assessment with condition rating of all existing furnishings. Once this list was approved for reuse we then measured each item and recorded into the data base and coordinated where each piece would be reused. The next step was to draw each piece and drop into the AutoCAD new room drawings to ensure fit and compatibility and included obtaining end user sign off.
We were also contracted to coordinate with purchasing for our offsite receiving, inventorying, verification, assembly, asset tagging, delivery to site, onsite placement or installation of all Owner Purchased Owner Installed items.
Our work also included for the planning and scheduling of the physical relocations. Meeting with each department we sequenced the moves from all sites into the new building. We then completed the physical relocation of each item from the following areas and departments; Administration, Foundation, Medical Directors, Storage, Building Services, Security, Purchasing, IS, Library, Professional Practice, Decision Support, Hospital Planning, Spiritual Care, Volunteers, Employee and Patient Safety, HR, Union Office, all DI files, Finance, Bio-Med, Gift Shop, Hospitality Services, Nutrition Services, Stores, Health Records including all files, Hospitalist Program, Lab, SPD, Business Office, Housekeeping, Acute Pain, Admitting, Discharge Planning, Print Shop, Cafeteria, Mail Room, Cath Lab, OR's, Rehab, Pharmacy, Emerg, Mental Health, Birthing, Special Care Nursery, PACU, Dialysis, Endoscopy, In-Patient Units, and Cancer Clinic.
We also assisted with the planning and relocation of all patients from the 3 sites. Our coordinating role was to assist with the planning and sequencing of the entire patient move. Arrange for patient transport, coordinate additional stretchers, lift teams, porter staff, nurse accompaniment, and provide a main sender and receiver. Developing the logistics of this multy-site patient move was enormous and concluded with the safe and respectful relocation of 220 patients from 7 am to 3 pm.
